Best earplugs of 2020: Silicone vs Foam

Being deprived of beauty sleep because of noisy neighbours or traffic is the last thing you need during a pandemic. Here is a review of two types of earplugs that will block out that ambient noise.

Silicone earplugs

These earplugs are less intrusive as they don’t go into the ear canal, but cover the entrance of the ear. They are also reusable and you can wash them in soapy water.

They can be difficult to put in and some people find them uncomfortable at first. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll soon find they do wonders with blocking out the noise.

Foam earplugs

These earplugs are very comfortable and soft, so you don’t even feel them in your ears. They are great at muffling out the noise, but you’ll still be able to hear your alarm.

They sometimes tend to fall out during the night, and, although you could probably reuse them a few times, you can’t really clean them.

The silicone earplugs are probably a bit more effective at blocking out the noise completely, while the foam ones can be more comfortable, especially for a first time user.
